Aims
Our course aims to develop the following things:
· understand how the arts play a role in developing and expressing personal and cultural identities
· appreciate how the arts innovate and communicate across time and culture
· become informed and reflective practitioners of the arts
· experience the process of making art in a variety of situations
· explore, express and communicate ideas
· become more effective learners, inquirers and thinkers
· develop self‑confidence and self‑awareness through art experiences
· appreciate lifelong learning in and enjoyment of the arts.

Communication Policy:
Part 2: Grading Policy
The following weights will be used to determine the six-week report card grades:
Classwork will be rigorous and standards-based and should document cumulative mastery of content area concepts. Expectations for grading classwork will be clearly communicated to students for each assignment.
Homework assignments may or may not be awarded a grade at the teacher’s discretion.
Teachers will record no fewer than two classwork/homework grades per week per subject, with a minimum of 12 grades per subject per grading period. Grades should be documented weekly.
Retesting:
A student will be permitted to retake any major test that she/he has failed within five school days of the date the failing grade was received and no later than ten days of the date of the test. The re-testing policy will not apply to an ACP. If the test is passed on the second attempt, the failing grade will be removed from the grade book, and the passing grade will be recorded, with the following exception. When student behavior or actions clearly demonstrate that a major test was failed due to lack of effort or inappropriate behavior, a teacher, with the principal’s approval, may assess the grade penalty. The grade will either be an average of the two tests or a 70. The grade given a student failing the test for the second time will be the higher score earned on either test.
Make Up Work:
Students will be permitted to make up assignments and test without grade penalty after an absence. The student is given two days for every day missed.
Late Work Policy:
If not related to an absence, students will be deducted 10 points for each day an assignment is late.

- Depending on how much money raised during fundraising a student may have to pay for some part of their costume.

Extra credit supplies: tape (masking, duct, packing, or gaffer), paper towels, baby wipes, & clear storage containers w/lids (any size!).
Classroom Expectations:
Daring attitude!
Respect each other and the space.
Audience etiquette given to all speakers/performers.
Maintain order at all times. Safety is key!
Always give 100% effort!
Special note: The theatre room has many adjoining spaces (office, backstage, auditorium, etc.). Students are not allowed in these areas without explicit permission from Ms. Bell or Mrs. Wilder. Chewing gum is not allowed in theatre room.

Students will be given the opportunity to turn in late work if they turn it in no more than 3 days past the due date. Students will be docked 5 points for the 1st day late, 10 points for the 2nd day late, and 25 points for the 3rd day late. After that, the assignment will be a zero in the gradebook.
